Exercise 1: Conversation exercise

Instruction:

¿Todavía envías cartas o solo correos electrónicos? (Do you still send letters or only emails?)
¿Qué es necesario cuando quieras enviar una carta? (What is necessary when you want to send a letter? Use the subjunctive. )
¿Cuántos correos electrónicos sueles recibir en un día? (How many emails do you usually receive in a day?)

Example phrases:

Ahora solo envío correos electrónicos. Es más rápido y fácil.

I only send emails now. It’s faster and easier.

A veces envío cartas para ocasiones especiales. Como cumpleaños o días festivos.

Sometimes I send letters for special things. Like birthdays or holidays.

Es importante que firmes la carta.

It is important that you sign the letter.

Es necesario que envíes la carta llevándola a la oficina de correos, por ejemplo.

It is necessary that you send the letter by taking it to the post office for example.

Normalmente recibo 10 o 15 correos electrónicos. La mayoría son de trabajo.

I usually get 10 or 15 emails. Most are for work.

Recibo 5 correos electrónicos al día. Algunos son de amigos, otros de periódicos.

I receive 5 emails a day. Some are from friends, some from newspapers.

Customer: Hopefully, there are no delays.

Empleado: Es importante que mande la dirección correcta.

Cliente: ¿Puede mandar esta postal a Madrid?

Customer: Can you send this postcard to Madrid?

Empleado: Sí, pero dudo que llegue antes del fin de semana.

Cliente: Espero que la mande con suficiente sello.

Customer: I hope you sent it with enough postage.

Boss: I hope the project manager reviews it today.

Empleado: Es importante que mande el email correctamente.

Employee: It is important that the email is sent correctly.

Empleado 1: Dudo que mandes el correo sin errores, revisa otra vez.

Employee 1: I doubt you'll send the email without errors, check it again.

Empleado 2: Sí, quiero que leas el borrador antes de enviarlo.

Employee 2: Yes, I want you to read the draft before sending it.

Empleado 1: Ojalá que lo mandemos a todos los clientes.

Employee 1: I hope we send it to all the customers.

Example 1

Amigo 1: Quiero que me mandes el número de teléfono de Ana.

Amigo 2: Te lo mando ahora, espero que tengas suerte hablándole.

I'll send it to you now, I hope you have luck talking to him.

Amigo 1: Ojalá que me conteste rápido.

Friend 1: I hope he replies quickly.

Amigo 2: Dudo que no te responda, siempre está pendiente del móvil.

Friend 2: I doubt he won't answer you, he's always checking his phone.
