Exercise 2: Multiple Choice

Instruction: Choose the correct sentence that uses the gerund properly in each sentence. Observe the common mistakes and learn to avoid them.

1.
Error: incorrect ending of the gerund in -ar; it should be '-ando', not '-anda'.
Error: the verb 'work' is in present tense, not gerund; it should be 'working'.
2.
Error: the form 'livingg' is incorrect; the correct gerund ending for -ir is '-iendo'.
Error: 'lived' is past participle, not gerund; it should be 'living'.
3.
Spelling error in the formation of the gerund of the verb leer; the correct form is 'leyendo', not 'leiendo'.
Error: after 'are' the gerund must be used, not the infinitive; that is why 'reading' is correct.
4.
Error: after 'is' the gerund must be used and not the infinitive, so 'going' is correct.
Error: 'gone' is past participle, not gerund; the correct gerund is 'going'.
